Incheon Airport honored for best service for 9th year

Incheon International Airport was chosen as the world’s best airport in service quality for the ninth consecutive year.

According to the Airports Council International, which conducts and releases the annual result, passengers at 1,800 airports around the world were interviewed for the 2013 survey.

Incheon airport was under the category of big or mega-sized airports with more than 25 million accumulative passengers.

The survey also is also cited Incheon International as No. 1 in the Asia Pacific region, followed by airports in Singapore and China.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the recognition can be attributed to things like the airport’s self check-in service and auto- immigration checkpoints, which have drastically reduced passenger processing time. Departures take an average of 19 minutes, and arrivals 11 minutes, which is three times faster than the worldwide airport average.

Gimpo International Airport also topped the survey in service quality among mid-sized airports with the number of passengers between 15 million and 25 million.
